In early July, ANNILTE’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities held their monthly keyword interpretation session. Led by our General Manager, Mr. Xiu Xueyi, this session began with a question that brought the room to a thoughtful silence:
“Does success equal happiness?”
Some nodded, some shook their heads, and many fell into deep contemplation. Instead of providing an immediate answer, Mr. Xiu posed a different perspective: “Watching a series brings pleasure, but pleasure is not the same as happiness. Sustained joy—that is the happiness we truly seek. ”
This month’s core message distills into a formula worth revisiting: H = S + C + V.
“Pouring all your energy into changing your environment is the least effective way to boost long-term happiness,” Mr. Xiu noted. This insight resonated with many team members facing anxieties about job or city changes.
The true leverage point lies in the V (Voluntary Control) – the 40% of our happiness we can actively influence.
So, what does the “V” look like in action? It’s not about passive overtime, but about proactively tackling challenges. It’s not about passively scrolling through content, but about mindfully engaging with the present moment. Every time we shift our mindset from “I have to do this” to “I choose to do this,” we are accumulating energy for genuine happiness.
Mr. Xiu shared a powerful metaphor that many team members noted down:
“Genetics provide the paper, circumstances supply the ink, but we hold the correction fluid and the pen.”
We cannot change the paper, and the ink is often beyond our control. However, what we write and how we revise it – that power is entirely our own. This 40% of voluntary control is the essence of our human dignity.
The session began and ended with a simple, collective song whose lyrics remind us: “A happy life comes from labor and creation.” Though everyone knows the tune, it felt especially powerful and grounded in this context.
Mr. Xiu concluded with a message that has become a guiding principle:
“Allow yourself to be imperfect, but never allow yourself to be inactive.”
These monthly keyword sessions have become a cultural hallmark at ANNILTE. They are not about offering empty motivation, but about reminding every team member that happiness is not a distant goal. It resides in the small actions we take today, in every moment of conscious choice, and in the faint, rewarding echo that follows each step of action.
